Prayer bleg:

Friday, September 14, 2007

I'll be singing and playing a "send-off" recital with my sister this Sunday, the proceeds of which will go toward my study in Rome and my dowry (hopefully) for the monastery. Please pray for its success!

Here's the lineup:

1. Preparing for the Journey
Chant - Salve Regina
Bach - Partita in E Major: Preludio
Franck - Panis Angelicus (vocal duet)

2. Beginning of the Journey
Chant - Alma Redemptoris Mater
Bach - Partita in E Major: Loure
Vivaldi - Concerto in d minor for two violins

3. Struggles of the Journey
Chant - Ave Regina Caelorum
Bach - Sonata in g minor: Adagio
Handel - "O worse than death indeed" and "Angels ever bright and fair" (from Theodora)

4. End/Goal of the Journey
Chant - Regina Caeli
Purcell - "An Evening Hymn"

As you may notice, the recital has a loose, twofold "pilgrimage" theme: physical and spiritual. There's a bit of church calendar pilgrimage goin' on, too. :-)

We haven't rehearsed with our accompanist yet, and we won't even play in the space until an hour before the recital, but I'm certain that all will go smoothly, thanks to your abundant prayers! God bless!
